Back to Reality

So the past 3 weeks have really felt like a long vacation.  Even the kids refer to our home as "the hotel", we are swimming every day and we have eaten out more than our fair share.  However, as I sit here nursing a sick kid, Mike is on a flight to India, and Katie informs me that my washer in Park Hills is on the blitz... I have realized all vacations must come to an end...

So we have had a busy few weeks.  We finally have enough furniture that our condo is starting to feel lived in.  We got our air shipment last week, and it was like Christmas.  The kids were thrilled seeing all their old toys again.  I have also found someone to clean the condo a couple times a week which is nice.

We had our first official visitor!  And the winner is.....Brian Mescher!  Brian was in town on business, but we got to hang out with him for a few hours last Saturday.  Brian even carted about 10 lbs worth of Twizzlers in his luggage for the girls.  BTW...all visitors must bring gifts from the US.  Our next request is Cheese Its please :)  So while Brian was here we did a few of the touristy things...we took a boat ride down the Singapore River...and a very expensive ferris wheel ride on the Singapore Flier.

Brian, Mike and I capped off the evening with an adults only meal out at Clarke Quay, where we finished the night at a bar called The Clinic.  The chairs are all wheel chairs and they serve drinks in IV bags.  (pardon the scary eyes in the photo).

So we have been lucky enough to meet/find quite a few new friends in the building...both kids and adults.  There is always someone outside to chat with or for the girls to play with, which has been very nice.  That is definitely the advantage to condo living.

I'm actually starting to get used to urban living as well.  I have been without a car now for almost a month, and I have to say it is kind of nice not having one.  Taxis are cheap and plentiful, and we are within walking distance to lots of shopping etc.  Although, I have to admit it is quite strange standing in a taxi line with a cart full of groceries :)
